By Ólòpá Úlègbé

Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, on Monday failed to honour the invitation of the House of Representatives over his involvement in the alleged N15 million bribe saga.

Recall, social media influencer, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, had shared a video online last week Tuesday wherein Bobrisky claimed she bribed some EFCC officials with N15 million to drop the money laundering charges against her.

The commission then invited VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky over bribery allegations against its officials.

Ola Olukoyede, the EFCC chairman, also ordered an immediate investigation into the allegations.

But on Wednesday, the crossdresser described the viral recording as “fake,” arguing that she did not pay any amount to the anti-graft agency.

Bobrisky also insisted that she served her term in prison.

Similarly, popular rapper, appeared to have confirmed a part of VeryDarkMan’s claims in a warning letter to the activist.

Following the accusations and counter-accusations, the House of Representatives decided to probe the allegations against the EFCC and NCoS.

However, VeryDarkMan, has arrived at the Assembly complex along with his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.

He is currently before the House of Representatives Joint Committee on the investigation of disturbing allegations of corruption against the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), and the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS).

Also before the Commitee is Bobrisky’s lawyer, Averosoghene Omuvwie, representatives of the EFCC, and Correctional Services. Avwerosuoghene Omuvwie, was also in the chamber.

However, when invited to talk, VeryDarkMan said: “Today, I will not say anything because an invitation was given out to me and Bobrisky. But he is not here. I don’t see why I will be here and he is not. So I won’t say anything, but my lawyer will.”

The social media influencer and socialite regained his freedom on August 5, 2024, after spending six months in incarceration for abusing the naira by spraying it at a party.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had on April 5 secured the conviction of Bobrisky. He was charged on four counts bordering on naira abuse. Following his release, Bobrisky urged Nigerians to follow the rules and abide by the law.
